RASK is truly international: its contributors come from over 20 countries, and the spread is growing. It also is up to date, and ties in with the newest trends in linguistic and communication studies: pragmatics, cognitive sciences, computer-human interaction, second-language education, critical discourse analysis (not to omit, of course, the staples of traditional comparative linguistics in a range of language families, first of all the Scandinavian ones.) Although contributions to RASK are subjected to peer assessment, there is no censorship, which makes the disputes among contributors and readers gain in interest what they perhaps lose in formality.
