The twins, Marco and Ulvar, could not be more different. Marco is as handsome as a god, while Ulvar is grotesque, a boy whose cruelty seems almost inhuman. The Ice People know that both have been chosen for a vital task, yet no one can guess what dark purpose Ulvar might serve or what horrors may follow in his wake.
